Camp Life

After a week the new TRACC Base Camp at Onion Beach was really taking shape, here's a quick tour around starting in the engine room - the kitchen! a tarpaulin roofed space with a "pan-tree" for all the pots, cooker, sink, running water, freezer - the works!

The temporary dive store in the shade of a huge pandan tree, with hangers for equipment, buckets for rinsing dive gear and behind it the compressor for filling the dive tanks.

The beach.

Sarah with our camp mascot "puppy" in the accommodation area of camp.

The lounge, dining room, meeting room and general all purpose space referred to as "Number 4" (??!) Close to the kitchen and overlooking the beach a great place to enjoy your breakfast with a cool sea breeze.

Our welcoming beach front sign, with camp guardian.

Sarah with the amazing Eva - a science intern, yoga master and all round great friend. A special thanks also for letting us use some of her photos for this blog, particularly the underwater shots - truly stunning

Romana enjoying the hammock - the perfect place to grab a few moments peace and quiet, reflecting on a day well done!

And as the sun sets, we all head to the beach, pull in the boats, light the fire and share stories, watching the green glow of fishing boats on the horizon and the stars creeping across the sky.

  2. Glad you're getting to enjoy the camp now. Sounds like you've done a lot of hard work. Slightly disappointed that you haven't included a picture of the tent with the giant 72" plasma tv for watching the world cup, but I'm sure that'll be in the next post!!
